lmost 3000 kilometers in one of the lesser known areas of the great homeland Russia. A fascinating journey, which from the borders with Kazakhstan largely follows the course of the Volga and then ends almost in Ukraine.
The Volga is the very heart of Russia, an artery along whose banks rise ancient cities and hideous factories, which flows from the cool and humid forests of central Russia to the brackish waters of the Caspian Sea, passing through places that have seen one of the largest battles of history but also the beginning of the endless race to Space.
Here people of all origins and ethnic groups meet, nature intact and the worst atrocities of real socialism. And we have traveled a long stretch of this river-artery, trying, in our possibilities as traveling motorcyclists, to understand its spirit and that of the populations who live there.
